Focus Entertainment, in collaboration with Saber Interactive and Games Workshop, is embarking on the creation of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3 following the remarkable success enjoyed by Space Marine 2. This sequel aims to deliver grander and more spectacular battles than ever before.
Recently, Focus announced that the development of this exciting new entry in the series has officially started, promising to enhance what players appreciated with innovative features to refine the highly successful formula. As John Bert, deputy CEO of Focus Entertainment Publishing, stated in a press release, “Players can expect a rich campaign, engaging multiplayer experiences, and innovations that will elevate third-person action games.” He emphasized that, with close cooperation with Games Workshop, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3 would redefine the genre, introducing vast-scale conflicts with unparalleled excitement.
Matthew Karch, CEO of Saber, remarked, “Space Marine 2 heralded a new era for Saber, encapsulating our 25 years of game development expertise. We are now moving forward with Space Marine 3, fulfilling the high expectations of our swiftly growing fanbase.”
For those concerned about Space Marine 2, there are no plans to cease its support abruptly. Although not transitioning into a complete live service model, the game will receive ongoing updates even as development on Space Marine 3 progresses. In fact, the game’s public test server has just launched along with fresh patch notes.
“While we continue nurturing the Space Marine 2 universe over upcoming years, our insights will be merged to craft an even more colossal and magnificent game with the third installation,” Karch shared. “This represents a unique chance to deliver a heartfelt tribute to the Warhammer 40,000 universe.”
Understandably, more detailed revelations about Space Marine 3 will be unveiled soon. As of now, there is an expected title alongside a teaser art featuring the familiar protagonist Demetrian Titus. Anticipation is high to unearth the lurking horrors in the third installment.
Games Workshop CEO Kevin Rountree, earlier this year, expressed the company’s eagerness for another video game triumph akin to Space Marine 2. “We are undoubtedly pursuing the next big success,” he commented. “Our forecasting for royalty income remains cautious.” The logical follow-up choice was clear: more Space Marine!
Space Marine 2 not only topped charts as the favorite shooter of the year but also deepened my admiration for it, a sentiment shared with my fiancé.
