The mastermind behind this challenge, Josef Fares, co-founder of Hazelight Studios and the game’s director, has made an extraordinary offer. He plans to bring these players to the studio in Sweden for an exclusive preview of his next big project.
Dubbed Laser Hell, this secret level lives up to its name, becoming a favorite hidden gem in gaming due to the thrill of discovery it offers. To access it, players must input a binary code into an elevator. Interestingly, a YouTuber who has conquered the level mentions that this sequence isn’t directly embedded within the game’s code. It’s a mystery how the first pair of champions cracked it.
These champions, Chinese speedrunners E1uM4y and Sharkov, faced an intricate platforming escapade, dodging rapid lasers and fatal drops. Watching them is awe-inspiring. Upon victory, players are treated to a personal video message from Fares himself. He exclaims: “Wow, amazing! You have to understand that there are barely people on our team that can make it. It took us a lot of time to finish it. And I’m telling you that this is a crazy, crazy achievement that you have done.”
In a playful jibe aimed at viewers like me who can only watch online, he adds: “And I’m not talking to you guys who are looking at this on YouTube. If you see this on YouTube, you should go to the game. It’s a really hard challenge. But for those of you who are actually in the game seeing this video, I am super amazed.”
The grand prize? E1uM4y and Sharkov will receive an exclusive look at Hazelight’s upcoming game. Fares promises: “I’m going to say one thing: If you see me in real life, somewhere, and you can prove to me that you actually did this challenge, I can promise you, the first one to do that, I’m going to fly you to Sweden and show you footage of our next game.”
