The infamous Silent Hill art director, Masahiro Ito, known for haunting our dreams with his creation, Pyramid Head, has reintroduced some of his older concept sketches of eerie creatures. According to Ito, these designs continue to dwell in his imagination and may find life in future endeavors.

Ito originally shared these images in August 2022, but has recently revisited them on Twitter following Konami’s unveiling of Silent Hill f, the upcoming installment in the iconic series. Although the link between Ito’s post and the new game’s trailer is somewhat flimsy, the timing of this repost is intriguing.

“These are sketches of creature concepts I created in 2016,” Ito explained. “They weren’t selected at the time, yet they linger in my mind, and their offspring might emerge in any future titles.” While there is no confirmed involvement of Ito in Silent Hill f, it stands to reason that if his art became available, numerous horror game developers would eagerly vie for it.

Though Silent Hill f doesn’t boast Ito’s legendary artwork, it does feature another esteemed figure: Ryukishi07, the creator of Higurashi When They Cry, who is penning the game’s story. Ryukishi07 has mentioned that he poured so much effort into the project that “I don’t think I would mind if it was the last thing I ever wrote.”

Furthermore, the Silent Hill 2 remake‘s director noted a necessity to make Pyramid Head “more aggressive and faster” during his renowned battle: “We’ve been losing something, but we’ve been gaining something, too.”
