Assassin’s Creed Shadows is making waves by outperforming some of its predecessor RPGs. In less than a single day, this Feudal Japan adventure attracted over a million players, and as we approach its first weekend, the game continues to break records.

Ubisoft has proudly announced that over two million enthusiasts have already dived into Assassin’s Creed Shadows, marking a monumental achievement considering it has barely been two days since its release. ‘We’re thrilled to celebrate this incredible milestone,’ the publisher shared in a new social media post, highlighting that Shadows has now outshone the launches of AC Origins and Odyssey.

Whether it has outsold or merely attracted more players than Origins and Odyssey in this short span is still uncertain, but its success is undeniable. The primary competitor within the series remains Valhalla, which continues to hold its place as the series’ top performer due in part to the excitement around new-generation consoles.

Shadows, however, is eyeing new series records. Current statistics indicate that there are over 58,000 players simultaneously enjoying Assassin’s Creed Shadows on Steam, marking the second-highest player peak in the franchise’s history, with the potential to soon surpass AC Odyssey.

If you count yourself among the two million exploring Feudal Japan, you might find it useful to learn how to change the seasons or discover the optimal skills for Yasuke and Naoe. And as the developers note, ‘it’s not a documentary,’ emphasizing that Ubisoft is not aiming to portray Japan from a stereotypical perspective.
