Assassin’s Creed Shadows is making headlines as it outperforms some of its notable RPG predecessors. In less than a day, the captivating journey through Feudal Japan attracted over a million players. As we move into the first weekend since its release, the impressive milestones continue. Ubisoft has announced that more than two million enthusiasts have dived into Assassin’s Creed Shadows within just two days.

“We’re thrilled to celebrate this incredible milestone,” expressed the publisher in a recent social media post. “Assassin’s Creed Shadows has now surpassed the launches of AC Origins and Odyssey. Thank you for joining the journey in Feudal Japan!”

It’s still unclear if Shadows has outsold the initial figures of Origins and Odyssey, or simply gathered more players in the same two-day duration. Regardless, it’s rapidly becoming a major success. The only game that it still trails behind is Valhalla, which remains the largest title in the series, largely due to the excitement surrounding the release of next-gen consoles.

However, Shadows is poised to challenge at least one series record. At the time of writing, the game boasts over 58,000 concurrent players on Steam. This represents the second-highest peak in the franchise’s history, with a continuous rise aiming to surpass AC Odyssey in the records.

If you’re among the millions exploring Feudal Japan, don’t forget to learn how to change the seasons and pick up the best skills for characters like Yasuke and Naoe.

As the game’s developer emphasizes, “it’s not a documentary” and Ubisoft isn’t aiming to present Japan “from a very clinical or overriding stereotypical view.” Stay tuned for weekly digests, community tales, and more.
