BioWare has breathed new life into Dragon Age: The Veilguard.

The recent patch notes hinted that the renowned RPG studio was setting their sights elsewhere, suggesting future updates would solely address critical bugs. However, in an unexpected twist, BioWare revealed yesterday a fresh update for the PC version, introducing a weapon pack to the mix.

The Rooks Weapons Appearance Pack adds stylish new cosmetics and is available for free for anyone with the Steam version of Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Not only that, but there’s an attractive 50% discount, bringing the cost down to $32/£25. Keep in mind, this pack is up for grabs only until April 8 for current and future game owners. As of now, there’s no update on its availability for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S players.

While it may seem like just a few weapons, the introduction of any fresh content to Veilguard feels almost miraculous, considering everything BioWare has faced since the game’s launch.

Post-launch, it was revealed that the fourth Dragon Age installment underperformed, falling short of its sales target by 50%. This misstep led EA to announce layoffs of BioWare staff, reassign others to different EA projects, and shift focus entirely to the development of Mass Effect 5, almost extinguishing hopes for any significant Veilguard updates.

Moreover, Dragon Age: The Veilguard is now part of the monthly giveaways for millions of PlayStation Plus subscribers, practically being gifted away to loyal fans.
