Silent Hill f has not been banned in Australia, contrary to some concerns. The Australian ratings board, known for its stringent criteria, often rejects games if they don’t align with its standards. In the past, titles like South Park: The Stick of Truth and Wasteland 3 required edits to gain approval. Even with the introduction of the R18+ rating in 2013, some games, such as Sludge Life and Hotline Miami 2, remain unavailable.
Recently, it appeared that Silent Hill f might join this list of restricted titles. However, in a clarification to GamesRadar+, a spokesperson from the Classification Board explained, “Silent Hill f is not currently classified as ‘Refused Classification’ in Australia.” Additionally, the mistakenly published page on the Australian Government’s website has now been removed.
While Silent Hill f is not presently banned, it hasn’t been rated yet by the Australian Classification Board. Hence, the possibility of a future classification refusal remains. The spokesperson further mentioned, “A classification decision will be published to the National Classification Database before the game’s release.”
A recurring theme that leads to bans involves drug use within games. Previous titles like Fallout 3 also faced such issues. While this doesn’t guarantee a ban for Silent Hill f, its Steam page makes a note of “drug-induced hallucinations,” which could be a point of scrutiny.
Regardless of its classification status, Silent Hill f promises a chilling experience. Players are advised to heed Konami’s recommendation: “If you feel uncomfortable at any point while playing, please take a break.” Stay connected with Konami for updates on this captivating yet potentially unnerving title, along with weekly digests and stories from your favorite communities.
