Fans of The Last of Us are in for a treat as season 2 promises a unique episode reminiscent of the much-loved and emotionally charged Bill and Frank tale. At a press conference, attended by GamesRadar+, Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann hinted at a special episode that will leave viewers captivated.
Craig Mazin emphasized, “One thing that Neil and I discussed was ensuring we’re not just replicating the success of the Bill and Frank episode. It should evolve naturally. However, I must say, there’s a stunning episode directed by Neil that stands out. It’s not about Bill and Frank, but it creates its own magic, so just you wait,” he added with anticipation.
Recent reports suggest that Mazin and Druckmann might adapt the “Bill and Frank treatment” for Eugene Linden, a lesser-known character from The Last of Us Part II, portrayed by Joe Pantoliano of The Sopranos fame. Although it’s not confirmed if Eugene is part of the teased episode, he is expected to interact with Ellie, Joel, and the new character Dina, played by Isabela Merced. This character connection is rooted in the deep friendship seen in the game.
The episode “Long, Long Time” from season 1, which beautifully explored the relationship between Bill and Frank, left an indelible mark on audiences and critics, earning Nick Offerman an Emmy for his brilliant portrayal of Bill, and a nomination for Murray Bartlett as Frank.
The highly anticipated second season of The Last of Us debuts on April 13, exclusively on HBO and Max. For more captivating stories, explore our list of best Max shows and best Max movies available for streaming.
