If you’re eager to discover how to secure Shiny cards in Pokemon TCG Pocket, we’re here to guide you. These Shinies are altered versions of existing cards where the Pokemon feature distinct colors and unique borders, signifying their rare status. Currently, they’re exclusive to the Shining Revelry booster set that’s been released, with a single outlier, the Shiny Mewtwo ex. Whatever your preference, we’re detailing how to acquire these sought-after Shinies in PTCGP below, along with a complete list of every Shiny card in the game.
Shiny Pokemon Cards in Pokemon TCG Pocket are obtainable through booster packs, but not just any packs. You must seek out packs from the Pokemon TCG Pocket Shining Revelry expansion, which released on March 27, 2025. However, these cards are rare treasures with limited availability.
As you open a pack, there are two different tiers of Shiny Cards, each with unique drop rates. If you don’t land a Rare “God Pack”, your chance of acquiring any Tier 1 Shiny Card is 3.571%. Meanwhile, the odds of landing a Tier 2 Shiny Card are as low as 1.666%. Given these odds, you’ll need to open multiple packs to amass a collection.
The sole exception is the Mewtwo ex, available as a Shiny promo card as part of the Paid Poke Gold Package in the shop. Currently, purchasing this is the only way to obtain this card.
There are 15 Shiny Pokemon for players to collect in PTCGP. Rest assured, these are purely aesthetic variations and don’t function differently from their non-shiny counterparts—they simply provide bragging rights on the battlefield. Non-shiny versions of these cards will also be included in the expansion set, ensuring they’re still easily accessible should they become part of the new Pokemon TCG Pocket best decks.
