Just weeks have passed since the first season of the much-celebrated political thriller Paradise concluded, and fans have thrilling news to enjoy. Recent photos have surfaced, confirming that filming for the second season is already underway. Starring Sterling K. Brown as a bodyguard tasked with safeguarding James Marsden’s U.S. president, the series captivated audiences from its riveting inception. Last month, the show received a green light for another season, and as creator Dan Fogelman announced, production has begun without delay.
Fogelman shared a photo on X, captioned “We’re baaaaaaack,” signaling that the project is moving full steam ahead after the jaw-dropping finale of season one. What direction the upcoming season will take remains a mystery, keeping both fans and even the show’s leading star in anticipation. Deadline reported on Fogelman’s unwavering belief in the show’s continuation.
In a conversation with BlackFilmandTV, Sterling K. Brown expressed his optimism fueled by the positive online engagement the series received. “You get the chance to see how people are responding to it on socials and the level of enthusiasm,” he shared. “You never know if lightning is gonna hit in the same place twice, you know, and we kind of got a chance to do it again.” His hope was mirrored by Fogelman, who was relieved that the story would move forward.
Fogelman told Deadline he was pretty assured that Paradise would return for another run, though he acknowledged past experiences where confidence was dashed by unresolved cliffhangers. He expressed gratitude for being able to continue the narrative, acknowledging that it would have been disappointing if canceled, as fans would’ve been left wondering where Sterling took his character next. However, he quipped about turning to fan fiction as a last resort to conclude the story. Luckily, that won’t be necessary.
