The entertainment sphere might be abuzz with the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday following an epic livestream, but it’s important not to overlook other exciting chapters in the Marvel universe. Notably, Ryan Coogler’s anticipated return to Wakanda for Black Panther 3 promises thrilling developments. Though plot details remain under wraps, a major highlight is the expected debut of Denzel Washington into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. According to Coogler, this collaboration is an overdue dream.
During an appearance on the Nightcap podcast, Coogler shared, “I’ve been dying to work with Denzel. I’m hoping we can make that happen. I’ve got every intention of working with him on that movie. As long as he’s interested, man, it’s going to happen,” he assured. “He’s a living legend and a great mentor for so many of us. He’s all about looking out for us now.”
While Black Panther 3 is generating conversation, it’s yet to secure a spot on the official MCU timeline. Apart from Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, the only other confirmed development is Spider-Man 4. The newest buzz around this film is that Sadie Sink has joined the ensemble in a mysterious role.
Washington’s hinted participation in the unconfirmed sequel inadvertently came to light last November. Reflecting on this, he told Variety about reaching out to Coogler regarding the premature reveal. “I called him and apologized for discussing the movie, and right there sitting with him was his beautiful wife. He’s still Ryan, humble and full of ideas. Whatever he writes, I’ll read,” Washington explained.
The nature of Washington’s potential role remains a mystery, yet it could significantly influence Letitia Wright’s Shuri, who emerged as the new Wakandan protector in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Meanwhile, Coogler’s tackling another project, the upcoming vampire flick Sinners, featuring Michael B. Jordan against the undead on April 18.
