Aleks Le, the English voice behind Sung Jinwoo, recently disclosed his significant contribution in crafting one of Solo Leveling‘s most devastating scenes. In a video release, he shared insights about the reunion scene in season 2 episode 9, titled, ‘It Was All Worth It‘. This poignant episode sees Jinwoo reunite with his mother, Park Kyung-Hye, as she awakens from a four-year coma and expresses her pride in him, leading Jinwoo to tears.
Le likened the scene’s emotional dynamic to one he admires in The Amazing Spider-Man, particularly between Aunt May and Peter. Inspired, he approached the show’s writer, Jessica Sluys, to craft the dialogue for the English dub. As he put it, “It’s a moment that resonates deeply with me, and I had a clear vision of the words that would emotionally impact me.”
Le was honored to write the scene’s dialogue, ensuring a faithful translation of the original Japanese and Korean scripts but infused with his personal touches. He shared how he added heartfelt terms like “sweet boy” and “baby” inspired by his life experiences. Reflecting on the moment when Colleen Clinkenbeard, the English voice for Park Kyung-Hye, delivered those lines, he admitted, “I started bawling and breaking down in tears.”
