After facing numerous hurdles, including a direct cancellation due to Warner Bros.’ tax strategy, the much-anticipated Looney Tunes film, Coyote Vs. Acme, is finally set to debut in theaters. This resurrection is thanks to a recent agreement between Warner Bros. and Ketchup Entertainment, who now holds the rights to distribute the film.
Starring John Cena alongside a host of other prominent figures, this project was shelved in 2023 during a period when Warner Bros. decided to halt several film productions, including a nearly completed Batgirl movie. However, the persistence and creativity behind Coyote Vs. Acme have ensured its survival and upcoming release.
The story humorously follows Wile E. Coyote as he files a lawsuit against the infamous Acme Corporation, the supplier of his ill-fated gadgets, which consistently fail him in his endless chase of the elusive Road Runner. With Dave Green at the helm as director, the film promises an engaging narrative supported by a remarkable cast including Will Forte, Lana Condor, and Tone Bell. Produced by Chris deFaria and James Gunn, the screenplay is crafted by Samy Burch.
Ketchup Entertainment, renowned for its 2024 project Hellboy: The Crooked Man, is contributing its expertise to bring this film to audiences worldwide. “We’re thrilled to collaborate with Warner Bros. Pictures to showcase this film internationally,” expressed Gareth West, CEO of Ketchup Entertainment. “Coyote Vs. Acme skillfully merges nostalgia with contemporary storytelling, embracing the essence of beloved characters while appealing to new fans.”
