Capcom vs. SNK 2 stands tall as one of the most cherished entries in the fighting game realm. A new translation patch is aiming to honor this classic with the complete English translation it has long deserved, including a plethora of lines that were never officially localized before. Thousands of quotes, each vibrant and unique, now see the light of day in English.
This game has undergone several official translations over the years, but none included the Dreamcast version—the original and arguably the quintessential home port. Now, a dedicated team of retro modders led by Derek Pascarella has delivered an expansive translation patch for the Dreamcast edition. This remarkable update not only embarks on translating missing content but also reintroduces players to new, never-before-seen material.
Derek Pascarella triumphantly announced, “Firstly, no official Western localization ever saw the ∼5,100 post-win quotes fully translated,” via Twitter. “Instead, we got about a seventh of the original text, but heavily watered down… UNTIL TODAY! Now, all of this fun dialogue is present and in English!”
Furthermore, this patch incorporates features from the PS2 version of Capcom vs. SNK 2 and introduces a brand-new compilation of bonus content, including newly-translated developer interviews and an optional, complete save file for your VMU. Interested individuals can find a detailed list of all these changes or download the patch through Pascarella’s GitHub page.
While there are various methods to experience Capcom vs. SNK 2—including an official version in the impending Capcom Fighting Collection 2—this patch enriches the game to such an extent that it’s a perfect moment to dust off your VMU for a truly definitive experience.
