Elden Ring Nightreign introduces a streamlined adventure for fans of the franchise. Unlike its predecessor, you select a class and enhance its abilities during gameplay sessions. Although the archer was absent in the beta, a new trailer has unveiled Ironeye, a bow and arrow specialist, showcasing impressive agility and finally giving the bow its well-deserved spot in a modern FromSoftware game.
In the latest trailer, we learn that bows are crucial in Nightreign. After engaging enemies up close, teammates can rely on you to land critical backshots that stagger foes, setting the stage for a powerful arrow strike. Imagine playing as Legolas.
Ironeye boasts a skill where a giant arrow pierces multiple targets, creating a whirlwind that deals with any remaining threats. When faced with widely dispersed enemies, a different attack spreads arrows in an arc to handle them efficiently. This versatility is invaluable when managing Nightreign‘s unpredictable events. Remember, while any class can use any weapon, Ironeye specializes in bows.
Beyond the standard bow, Ironeye utilizes flaming arrows. There’s an undeniable attraction to weapons engulfed in flames, hinting at possible elemental effects to explore. The class evokes memories of the ranger from Dragon’s Dogma, a personal favorite.
I originally planned to wield a massive sword in Nightreign, much like my playstyle in previous Dark Souls games and the first Elden Ring. However, this trailer tempts me to revisit bows. Players have completed Elden Ring with bows and even dance pads – unconventional but intriguing methods. While I used bows sparingly, perhaps it’s time for a new approach.
