The world of superheroes is buzzing with excitement following a dynamic presentation by James Gunn and the stars of the anticipated Superman movie at CinemaCon in Las Vegas. Among the highlights, David Corenswet shared his intriguing vision for a future DCU crossover event that fans might not expect.
Taking the stage at Caesars Palace with co-stars Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Corenswet revealed his interest in stepping into another iconic role. When asked which other DC character he would like to portray, his answer was emphatic: “Batman.” The announcement thrilled the audience, which included movie theater owners and media such as GamesRadar+.
Corenswet elaborated, expressing his fondness for a storyline from Superman: The Animated Series. In this episode, titled “Knight Time,” Superman disguises himself as Batman to team up with Robin and maintain order in Gotham City amidst Batman’s mysterious disappearance. The potential for such a plot adaptation in live-action form excited Corenswet and the attendees alike.
When posed with the same question, Rachel Brosnahan expressed a desire to break typecasting by playing Lex Luthor. She remarked, “I’ve always wanted to be evil, but no one will let me. And I would shave my head.” Meanwhile, Nicholas Hoult admitted to having auditioned for both Batman and Superman roles in the past. Ultimately, he found fulfillment as Luthor, saying, “It was kind of a relief. I ended up in the right place.”
With James Gunn holding dual roles as co-chairman and co-CEO of DC Studios, as well as director of the upcoming film, the chances of this superhero swap becoming a reality are brighter than ever. Stay tuned for updates on whether Corenswet’s wish becomes a cinematic reality!
