Finally, Nintendo has officially announced the release date for the much-anticipated Switch 2. This eagerly awaited successor to the Switch is set to hit the markets on June 5. It means the wait is almost over for fans who have been longing for this moment. For more details, check out this Nintendo Direct announcement.
The news we’ve all been waiting for from the Nintendo Direct is here, leaving us to eagerly anticipate this exciting launch. Last July, Nintendo’s president, Shuntaro Furukawa, assured that they planned to manufacture enough units to satisfy demand, to avoid a repeat of the original Switch’s quick sell-out at launch. Hopefully, they will succeed in making the console readily available for everyone this time.
In addition, Nintendo disclosed the pricing details for the new console. It will be priced at $449.99 in the United States. For perspective, the initial Switch model was priced at $299.99 back in 2017 (£279.99 in the UK), whereas the enhanced OLED model launched in 2021 at $349.99 (£309.99). Given that the Switch 2 is an advanced sequel, a higher price was anticipated, with experts suggesting a minimum of $400. Visit GamesRadar for analyst insights on pricing.
The excitement surrounding the Switch 2 is further amplified with Nintendo’s Treehouse streams scheduled for April 3 and 4. These sessions will offer an extensive seven-hour preview of upcoming Switch 2 games, giving fans plenty of content to dive into. Following the initial January announcement, it seems our wait was worthwhile. Stay updated with our live pre-order blog for all Switch 2 details.
