The highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 and its lineup of games promise incredible experiences, but they won’t come cheap. Mario Kart World, an exclusive launch title for the Switch 2, is priced at a significant $80 in the United States, a noteworthy increase from the $60 price of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
Alongside a slew of Nintendo Direct announcements, the price of Mario Kart World has been confirmed on its official webpage. Meanwhile, Donkey Kong Bananza will be slightly less at $70, debuting on July 17.
Interestingly, based on information from the UK My Nintendo Store, gamers can expect the digital versions of Switch 2 games to be cheaper. In the UK, the digital edition of Mario Kart World will sell for £67, while Donkey Kong‘s digital version will be £59, compared to their physical counterparts priced at £75 and £67, respectively. Whether this pricing strategy will be seen outside of Europe remains to be seen.
For many players, the tangible joy of collecting physical games remains appealing, with cases proudly displayed on shelves. However, given the potential for savings, digital downloads might increasingly attract more players.
The Switch 2 itself is set to launch at $450 (£395). Interestingly, a bundle offer will also be available, providing the console and a digital copy of Mario Kart World for $500 or £430, presenting the most economical option for those looking to grab the racing title at launch.
This month, Nintendo Direct will spotlight Mario Kart World in its dedicated presentation, keeping fans eagerly engaged. Stay tuned for more revelations and community stories.
