I feel uniquely challenged by the arrival of a new Star Wars helmet replica, and I have some grievances to express. Last month, I had the chance to visit Disney HQ and preview some of the merchandise for May 4. Although many items caught my eye (notably the RC Mouse Droid, which I adore), it was a replica Star Wars helmet discreetly placed in a corner that immediately captivated me. As a fervent Clone Wars enthusiast, with a particular admiration for Obi-Wan’s squad (the yellow-accented 212th), the Black Series 212th Clone Trooper Helmet seems expressly crafted to challenge my resistance.
As with all Black Series replicas, this model (which will be directly available from the Disney Store US and Disney Store UK starting May 4) appears as if it’s been taken right from the set of the movie. Its screen-accurate and wearable design is highlighted by expertly applied weathering. The burns, chips, and general abrasions provide a perfectly authentic, battle-worn aesthetic. Plus, it features a voice modulator, allowing you to channel your inner clone trooper.
Did I try it on, you ask? Absolutely. It was hard to resist shouting “blast ’em!” in my best Temeura Morrison impression.
Manufactured by Hasbro Pulse (a subsidiary specializing in adult-oriented replicas and pop culture collectibles), this helmet is one of several color variants of the previously released standard Clone Trooper Helmet. What’s notable about the 212th edition is its affordability compared to its counterparts—the Ahsoka variant and the Anakin’s 501st version. While the US price remains unknown, it costs £90 in the UK, in contrast to £139.99 for the Ahsoka and £104.99 for the 501st editions.
But this wasn’t the only exciting merchandise being unveiled for May 4. A new lightsaber from a lesser-known Jedi is pretty intriguing, with more surprises expected to be unveiled on the day itself, which I am eager to explore in detail.
