Former PlayStation and Sony Interactive Entertainment executive Shuhei Yoshida has expressed his excitement for an upcoming Switch 2 game crafted by developers he’s previously collaborated with: FromSoftware’s The Duskbloods.
The renowned creators of Dark Souls and Bloodborne sent ripples of surprise when they revealed that director Hidetaka Miyazaki’s next project would be exclusively developed for Nintendo Switch 2, and even more astonishingly, it promises an eight-player PvPvE multiplayer experience.
Speaking with PlayStationInside, Yoshida shared, “I’m very intrigued by The Duskbloods” over other promising titles such as Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza. “I’m curious to see what FromSoftware will achieve with a Switch exclusive on a technical front. It’s captivating to witness their innovations, especially after Elden Ring.”
Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser has previously mentioned that the game’s presence as a Switch 2 exclusive signifies Miyazaki’s confidence in the console’s capabilities, which is remarkable since FromSoftware could have aligned with any publisher post the 30 million copies triumph of Elden Ring.
Yoshida also weighed in on the rising tide of $80 price tags in the gaming world, a trend spurred by Mario Kart World‘s impact. He attributed these price increments to escalating AAA “production costs” and inflation but noted alternatives like $50 games such as Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 as viable solutions. “This is a potential path forward,” he stated, “allowing for fantastic games with more focused teams and budgets without cutting corners.”
While fans await the long-desired Bloodborne PC release, they can find solace in knowing that FromSoftware maintains ownership of The Duskbloods IP. Weekly updates, stories from beloved communities, and more await eager followers.
