Gamers diving into the new beta of Splitgate 2 are uncovering some unexpected surprises beyond just clever portal maneuvers. The latest revelation? There’s a spontaneous, unmistakably loud ‘pfft-y’ fart sound that can erupt randomly when you crouch.
Many may recall Splitgate as the engaging FPS commonly likened to ‘Halo meets Portal’ due to its vintage arena combat, futuristic weaponry, and the novel use of portals which can be strategically placed almost anywhere to outmaneuver opponents or pull off dazzling shots.
Now, with the free-to-play sequel’s beta available, its developers have introduced a cheeky new twist: farty butts. Jesse Griefenberg, an associate producer at 1047 Games, shared on social media that there’s roughly a 1% probability of a gas-passing incident when crouching. He noted, “so you may hear it at any point in the game if you crouch once.” Although crouching is known to aid digestion, if the ‘brap’ and ‘thrrp’ sounds become overly frequent, Griefenberg mentioned they might alter it to “1-in-200 or something.” (Source).
Currently, the community is encouraged to embrace this quirky addition. Next time you’re in a Splitgate 2 match, consider setting a portal behind your adversaries and repeatedly crouching to create a distracting, if not hilarious, diversion, allowing your teammates an easy victory. We’re calling this bold tactic the Asshole Pincer strategy—though ‘Assportal Pincer’ was a close contender.
All of this flatulence talk might spark curiosity in more about gaming’s humorous side. It reminds me of an intriguing article from GamesRadar+ titled Gaming’s Most Important Farty Butts from 2008. Had Splitgate 2 debuted back then, it might have rivaled Wario’s legendary atomic butt burps.
