Hoo boy, this one’s thrilling! Introducing Infinite Alliance, a brand-new indie J-inspired RPG that’s orchestrating a massive crossover by uniting characters from over 13 beloved indie hits within the subgenre.

Revealed earlier this week at the Indie Quest showcase, Infinite Alliance promises a delightful throwback experience. Expect stunning pixel art, captivating music, and classic turn-based combat with a handy turn order display on the screen’s periphery, which is a personal favorite feature in any RPG. Even better, upon its release next year, the game will be free of charge. A deal hard to resist!

The game centers around heroes and villains from various indie JRPGs (and J-inspired RPGs) who find themselves plucked from their worlds and thrust into a desolate realm. The lineup is truly impressive. Chained Echoes, lauded as one of the best RPGs in recent years, headlines the roster alongside acclaimed titles like Jack Move and Beloved Rapture. Interestingly, some titles, including Kingdoms of the Dump and My Familiar, have yet to make their debut. For a complete list, check out Infinite Alliance’s Steam page.

On Reddit, one of the crossover’s creators hinted at additional announcements regarding “extra games involved (ultimately bringing the total to around 16), while emphasizing this as the main roster.”

If you, like many, haven’t set aside the time to delve into these charming games, worry not! Infinite Alliance is designed to be “narrative-focused for sure, but not in a lore-heavy way.” It’s framed as an introduction to all these characters, and thus it’s offered for free.

Reflecting on the project, developer ‘OniLink99999’ notes, “The first Avengers movie might be a decent comparison – lots of characters with their own baggage, but a self-contained plot, and if you haven’t seen the other movies you can still understand and get into it.”

Infinite Alliance is slated for a 2026 release on PC and consoles. In the meantime, explore what we believe are the best JRPGs ever created!
