Fans of the beloved Persona 4 are buzzing with speculation as a trio of its original voice actors have stated they won’t be reprising their roles for a rumored Atlus remake—despite the developer having yet to make any official announcement.

The rumor mill started to churn after Persona 3 Reload reignited interest. This speculation took a dramatic turn when Yuri Lowenthal, famed for his role in Marvel’s Spider-Man, posted—and then deleted—a message saying he would “not be returning as Yosuke” in the supposed remake. “I asked. Maybe I even begged, but they don’t want me to come back,” he shared, adding to the mystery.

Meanwhile, Erin Fitzgerald, the voice of Chie Satonaka in Persona 4 Golden, also confirmed she hasn’t been invited to join the remake’s cast, reinforcing belief in the existence of the Persona 4 Remake. To complete this trilogy of denials, Amanda Winn Lee, who originally voiced Yukiko Amagi, remarked on social media, “No, I wasn’t asked to voice Yukiko in the P4 remake.”

This synchronized sequence of actor statements—following the order in which their characters join your team in the game—has fans questioning if this is part of an elaborate marketing tactic. Considering the close timing with Summer Game Fest 2025, beginning next week, any revelations about Persona 4 might not be too far away. It’s worth noting that Persona 3 Reload had its debut at an Xbox Games Showcase, hinting that the next installment could see a similar unveiling during Microsoft’s June 8 event.

For now, enthusiasts eagerly await any news about Kanji Tatsumi, the next character recruitable in the game, originally voiced by The Last of Us star Troy Baker, with Matthew Mercer stepping in for some spin-offs. Should either voice actor step forward with a similar denial, it could either validate these theories or simply add fuel to the fire of anticipation. But until more information is available, it’s wise to temper expectations.
