When I stumbled upon an email titled Blood Message, I was initially taken aback. However, it turns out this is an exciting new AAA game set during the twilight of China’s Tang Dynasty around 900 AD. Watch the NetEase Games site for more updates on this thrilling adventure.
The trailer for Blood Message is truly impressive, showcasing intense third-person sword fighting that resonates with the finely choreographed action of the Uncharted series. Playing as an unnamed messenger in search of his son Ning, players traverse scorching deserts and the snow-clad wilderness of central Asia.
Unlike tales of legendary generals, Blood Message focuses on “ordinary people driven by extraordinary resolve.” This unique perspective is what many feel AAA studios should prioritize over live services. One enthusiastic YouTuber remarked, “Finally we get Uncharted 5,” highlighting the game’s resemblance to Naughty Dog’s iconic action epics. Another fan exclaimed, “It’s like a Tang Dynasty take on Uncharted, and I’m here for it, looks sick.”
Developed by 24 Entertainment, part of NetEase, creator of Naraka: Bladepoint, a free-to-play melee battle royale, Blood Message exemplifies China’s ongoing push to captivate PC and console gamers through cinematic storytelling.
As NetEase Games introduces Blood Message, lead producer and NetEase’s executive VP Zhipeng Hu promises, “We are ushering players into a new generation of high adventure with Blood Message.” As its first solo AAA venture after decades in the industry, NetEase aims to deliver an unparalleled cinematic experience.
Although Blood Message lacks a specific release date, it’s destined for consoles and PCs. Until then, keep an eye on the horizon for more highly anticipated releases coming your way.
