Sega Sammy has inadvertently shared the sales performance of some of its notable titles, offering a glimpse into why the company might be reluctant to step away from the Persona 5 era. A new ‘Management Meeting’ presentation from earlier this week included an attempt to obscure the data on page 25 using a grey block. However, resourceful fans discovered that by highlighting and copying the concealed text, they could reveal the figures hidden beneath. (source)
The iconic Sonic, the mascot of platformers, continues to perform impressively. With Sonic Frontiers reaching approximately 4.5 million copies sold, alongside Team Sonic Racing at 3.5 million and Sonic Superstars achieving over 2.4 million, the Blue Blur is indeed a strong contender in the market.
In the realm of JRPGs, titles like Persona 3 Reload, Metaphor: ReFantazio, and Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance have each surpassed 2 million units. Meanwhile, Yakuza titles like Yakuza: Like a Dragon is closing in on 3 million, and Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth approaches the 2 million mark.
The standout success is undoubtedly Persona 5 Royal, which has reached a staggering 7.25 million copies sold, not including the original Persona 5, which previously hit around 3 million. Such robust sales figures explain why the developer remains connected to the game through spin-offs and an upcoming P5 gacha edition. Although Atlus has revisited games like Persona 4 and 3 while introducing a new fantasy series, the journey to the eagerly anticipated Persona 6 has been longer than fans might expect.
The only confirmed update regarding the next main installment of the Persona series is its development status. Leap into surprise (or not) as P-Studio lead Kazuhisa Wada remarked, “We are actively preparing for the future development of the Persona series as a studio,” hinting at progress being made while encouraging anticipation from a global audience. “We look forward to your continued support of the Persona series,” he added, leaving fans eagerly awaiting the upcoming announcements.
