This afternoon’s Nintendo Switch 2 Direct unveiled a host of thrilling updates, and amidst the extensive coverage by the dedicated GamesRadar+ team, some exciting news might have slipped through. One big reveal that nearly got overshadowed is the introduction of Elden Ring: Tarnished, essentially a refreshed version of Elden Ring for the Switch 2.

Our earlier coverage did include noteworthy announcements like the addition of Cyberpunk 2077 and Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade to the Switch 2 repertoire. Besides this, Bandai Namco issued a comprehensive update, highlighting new features tailored for both Elden Ring: Tarnished and the main Elden Ring game accessible across all platforms.

Information on the official Bandai Namco website confirms that the Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition on Switch 2 will encompass everything from the original game and the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, along with exciting additions like “new armor, weapons, and customization features for Torrent’s appearance.” Nonetheless, a curious detail from the official Japanese FromSoftware Twitter mentioned the inclusion of four new armor pieces but did not elaborate on additional weapons.

Remarkably, all these fresh enhancements in the Tarnished Edition are confirmed to be available on every other platform, ensuring nobody misses out on the excitement. Unfortunately, what remains elusive is the exact release date for these updates. The current speculation is that they will arrive on Switch 2 sometime in 2025.

In an interesting development, pre-orders for the Switch 2 appear to kick off a week earlier at least in the UK and Germany. Meanwhile, Nintendo has started sending out invitation links to eager purchasers. Get ready to dive into this immersive expansion!
