One of the main criticisms faced by Monster Hunter Wilds was that its endgame did not pose enough of a challenge. Fortunately, Mizutsune has emerged as the newest tier eight Tempered monster, and its arrival is thrilling players who enjoy a good test of skills.
If you’ve been on a quest to conquer Mizutsune, be prepared to up your game with its brand-new Tempered form. “I’ve done several hunts now, and the flipping vertical tail slam attack from enraged Tempered Mizutsune keeps one-shotting people, sometimes two hunters at a time,” shares a hunter on Reddit. “It comes out so fast, too. I’ve even felt its wrath once. The damage skyrockets way beyond normal Mizutsune. Was this intentional or is there something I’m missing here?”
Despite the intense challenge, the Leviathan is praised for having excellent hit zones, favorable attack openings, and, ideally, it avoids obstructing the view like Gore Magala often does. A compelling reason to face this beast, aside from the sheer thrill, is the top-tier gear it offers for multiple weapons.
While not everyone is a fan of the armor, the combat experience remains exceptional. “I want to take a moment to mention how amazing Mizutsune is,” enthuses a fan on Reddit. “The model is absolutely gorgeous. Easily the best-looking monster in the game. The fur looks so soft, and the iridescence in the scales looks fantastic. The fight is also extremely fun. Bubbleblight is still a solid status that I find more amusing than annoying. Overall I think the difficulty is pretty perfect. I’ll admit I’m not a huge fan of the armor sets, but the weapons are great.”
While there’s anticipation for other apex monsters like Rey Dau and Uth Duna to join the tier eight Tempered ranking in the future, Mizutsune offers a refreshing change from the weeks dominated by Gore Magala and Arkveld. If you initially dismissed Monster Hunter Wilds for its lackluster endgame, now is the ideal moment to dive back into the action.
