Bethesda and Xbox shared the exciting news of the remaster’s achievement: a staggering four million players merely three days post-launch.
A jubilant post from Bethesda on Twitter and Bluesky conveyed their gratitude: “We are so grateful to the over 4 million of you that have already ventured into Cyrodiil with Oblivion Remastered. Thank you!”
Xbox responded with a playful nod to one of the Elder Scrolls series’ beloved memes: “That’s a lot of cheese wheels in pockets. Huge congrats. 💚” April 25, 2025.
This remaster’s astonishing success across all metrics is undeniable, although it has also outshone some developers due to its unexpected launch. Since its debut on April 22, Oblivion Remastered has received widespread acclaim from critics and players alike, dominating the Steam charts and selling like proverbial cheese-flavored hotcakes.
Despite numerous botched attempts at remakes and remasters in the past, Oblivion Remastered wasn’t guaranteed to triumph. However, by painstakingly rebuilding the classic over several years, enhancing quality of life while retaining the game’s essence, and releasing it seamlessly on all platforms, Xbox and Bethesda struck success. Who could have predicted?
