Amid months of speculation and swirling rumors, Bandai Namco and A24 have officially announced their collaboration on a live-action Elden Ring movie through a recent press release.

The project details strikingly align with earlier reports from Nexus Point News, which made headlines briefly before being retracted.

Helming the project is Alex Garland, renowned for his work on the 2024 dystopian action film Civil War and the 2025 co-directed war epic, Warfare. He is set to write and direct the adaptation for A24.

Working alongside him is George R.R. Martin, the acclaimed author of A Song of Ice and Fire, who played a pivotal role in crafting the rich world and lore of Elden Ring. Despite the anticipation, the release date remains unannounced.

The game, released in 2022 across platforms like PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC, challenges players to explore its perilous open world to assume the role of a new Elden Lord. For years, whispers of a film adaptation have captivated fans.

In 2021, Yasuo Miyakawa, CEO of Bandai Namco, hinted at plans to broaden Elden Ring’s reach beyond gaming into various realms. By 2024, George R.R. Martin’s comments slightly dismissed these rumors but only fueled more excitement.

A24 is also involved in bringing to life another video game classic, co-producing a film adaptation of Death Stranding with Kojima Productions.
