A dedicated GTA 5 modder, known as Razed, has spent a decade refining the vibrant world of Los Santos, bringing it to near photo realism. He believes the modding community will only expand when GTA 6 makes its way to PC.
During an interview with PC Gamer, Razed disclosed a surprising detail: “According to Steam, I’ve accumulated around 10,000 hours on GTA 5,” he stated, estimating that approximately 80% of that time was invested in developing and testing his extensive project. Other team members have also dedicated significant time, contributing their own hundreds, if not thousands, of hours to the mod’s development.
Witnessing Razed’s stunning NaturalVision GTA 5 mod images, it’s easy to understand the investment of around 8,000 hours. The mod recently received its substantial Enhanced update, boasting breathtaking visuals. The ray tracing features introduced in the Enhanced Edition of GTA 5, released on PC in March, dramatically enhanced shadows and colors both inside and out, allowing Razed to elevate the mod’s visual fidelity.
With GTA 6 slated for release on PS5 and Xbox Series X in about a year, a PC release date remains unconfirmed. Razed admitted it’s “too early” to speculate on GTA 6 mods, yet expressed his desire to develop mods for the sequel. “I think modding is going to be bigger than ever once GTA 6 eventually drops on PC,” he remarked. He holds hope that Rockstar will embrace modding tools officially, especially in light of their move toward FiveM by acquiring roleplay server mod maker, Cfx.re.
Razed envisions Rockstar adopting a marketplace akin to Bethesda’s platform for player-created mods, which could greatly benefit GTA 6 and its community.
Imagining what Razed could achieve with GTA 6 is thrilling. Perhaps it would resemble a high-resolution photograph of Miami, Florida—something truly captivating.
In related news, an executive discussing the former GTA 5 lead’s new open-world game MindsEye mentioned that negative feedback stemmed from a “financed” and “concerted effort to trash the game and the studio.”
