Jon Bernthal’s Punisher is set to team up with Tom Holland in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. After gaining popularity on Netflix’s Daredevil and later starring in his standalone series The Punisher, Bernthal’s Frank Castle is making his way to the big screen. Recently, the character made a brief return in a couple of episodes on Disney+‘s Daredevil: Born Again. The buzz is that Marvel has more plans for Bernthal in the future.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day sees Holland suit up once more as Spidey, alongside Zendaya as Michelle “MJ” Jones and Jacob Batalon as Ned, his best friend. Joining them is Stranger Things star Sadie Sink in a role rumored to be Jean Grey.

The contrast between Bernthal’s dark, gritty Punisher and the brighter tone established in the previous Spider-Man films is quite striking, according to The Hollywood Reporter. It will be intriguing to see how Marvel manages this dynamic in the upcoming movie.

Scheduled to premiere on July 31, 2026 as part of Marvel Phase 6, Spider-Man: Brand New Day was originally set for July 24. The shift in date is possibly to steer clear of a conflict with Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, which opens on July 17 and also stars Holland.
