For a few weeks now, testers on Diablo 4‘s PTR have been experimenting with innovative Season 9 Horadric powers. During this time, Blizzard identified a potent combination allowing all classes to rapidly farm by continuously teleporting and swiftly dispatching enemies.

The teleport trick wasn’t widely known until a tutorial video by Rob2628 provided a detailed explanation. Season 9 introduces the Horadric Spellcraft system, inviting players to create custom spells by choosing a base spell, or Catalyst, and enhancing it with Infusions for varied damage and effects.

To pull off Season 9’s ingenious teleporting, players used Propulsion as their Catalyst, along with Floaty Bubble and Bloody Charm Infusions. In essence, Propulsion emits a powerful mana burst that “executes non-boss enemies.” With the Floaty Bubble Infusion, players teleport to the center of this blast, while Bloody Charm resets cooldowns, enabling continuous attacks. It’s akin to Path of Exile’s Flicker Strike, making it accessible to any class.

As the Diablo 4 community anticipated, Blizzard promptly reacted by nerfing the Bloody Charm’s cooldown reset ability on Propulsion. The new patch now awards a five-second, 70% movement speed boost upon successful executions. During a livestream, systems designer Aislyn Hall explained, “This effect allowed players to teleport practically infinitely, altering build identity.”

Weekly digests, community stories, and more also highlighted the change. Game designer Charles Dunn added, “We want gameplay across classes and builds to feel distinctly unique. Horadric Spellcraft should complement existing builds without overtaking them.”

Blizzard continues to balance updates and adjustments, a fine line since Diablo 4‘s launch two years ago. Notably, this change, currently exclusive to the PTR, allows Blizzard to address balance without affecting the final build. Meanwhile, speculation about Diablo 4’s availability on the Nintendo Switch 2 grows, though series head noted, “Live services on Switch have been a bit challenging in the past.”
