Dungeon Fighter Online, a veteran in the action MMO scene, has rolled out its first major level cap update since July 2022. With Season 9 Act 1: Sunken Depths, the game’s level limit has increased from 110 to 115, introducing a range of new dungeons, monsters, fresh regions, and a comprehensive overhaul of its farming and equipment systems.
The developers at Neople are optimistic that this substantial update will invigorate the online beat ’em up, which made its worldwide debut nearly a decade ago in May 2015.
In a recent interview, Neople‘s lead game designer, Hyun Woo Kim, shed light on the update’s purpose and timing. “The core focus of this update is to underscore the quintessential RPG thrill — the joy of farming,” remarked Kim. “With the 10th anniversary of DFO’s global service on the horizon, this update is especially meaningful for both us and our players. We wanted to present this season as an anniversary gift, enhancing the excitement for our community.”
Since the previous level cap update in 2022, Dungeon Fighter Online has seen a series of minor updates to its equipment and gameplay systems, including tweaks to Legions and Raids. Historically, global updates have lagged behind their Korean counterparts by several months. However, Neople has been “gradually expanding” their team as part of a “Fast Track” strategy, effectively shortening the update gap from 4-6 months to 2-3 months.
Kim assured, “Moving forward, our goal is to deliver updates that are faster and more refined. While development hurdles might shift our timelines, our commitment to enhancing player experience remains unwavering.” For those eager to dive into the Sunken Depths update’s full scope, check out the complete patch notes.
