BioWare has delivered an unexpected revival for Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Previously, the last patch hinted that the revered RPG studio was prepared to move beyond this game, suggesting future updates would merely address critical bugs. However, in an unexpected turn of events, BioWare has recently enhanced the PC version of the game with a new weapon pack.

The introduction of the Rooks Weapons Appearance Pack brings fresh cosmetic options to the game, available for free on the Steam version of Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Additionally, the game is now being offered at a half-price discount of $32/£25. Potential buyers should act quickly, as this offer applies only to those who purchase the game before April 8. There is still no confirmation when or if this update will arrive for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Though the new content consists of just a few weapons, its arrival feels like a minor miracle given the challenging circumstances faced by its developer post-launch. Shortly after the game’s debut, EA disclosed that the fourth Dragon Age entry had fallen 50% short of its sales goals. This was followed by staff layoffs at BioWare, with some developers reassigned to other EA projects, as the company announced that Mass Effect 5 would become the primary focus, dashing fans’ hopes for significant new Veilguard updates.

To further confirm the situation, Dragon Age: The Veilguard is being offered at no cost to millions of PlayStation Plus subscribers as part of the free monthly game lineup.
