Ubisoft has finally launched its eagerly awaited action RPG, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and the response has been nothing short of spectacular. Today, as the game made its debut, it has already begun setting new benchmarks for player counts on Steam, outpacing previous entries in the acclaimed series.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is basking in the glory of “Very Positive” reviews, reflecting players’ excitement and approval. Yet, what’s even more striking is the sheer number of gamers flocking to experience this latest chapter. The game reached an all-time peak mere hours after launch, amassing an impressive 28,620 players.
This fresh entry has left its predecessor, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, in the dust by quite a margin. Valhalla’s peak count reached just 15,431 players in December 2022, which is almost 13,189 fewer than what Shadows achieved right from the get-go. Another title, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, peaked at 7,837 players, trailing Shadows by 20,783.
While Assassin’s Creed Shadows makes an explosive start, surpassing icons like Assassin’s Creed Origins and Odyssey remains a formidable challenge. Origins boasts a peak of 41,541 simultaneous players, and Odyssey has shattered records with 61,984 users – 33,364 more than Shadows’ entry day mark. Still, the journey has just begun for Shadows, with many believing it has the potential to topple even the mightiest titles.
According to reviews, including our own Assassin’s Creed Shadows review, the game “thrives on boldness,” giving it the edge to challenge its predecessors.
