Daredevil actor Charlie Cox recently shared the challenges of maintaining confidentiality about his surprise cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home. In a revealing interview with Disney’s D23 Magazine, he described the endeavor as a “two-year nightmare.” Cox appeared not as his vigilante alter ego but as Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer offering legal advice to Peter Parker and Happy Hogan at the start of the 2021 movie.

Although his appearance was brief, Cox found keeping this secret incredibly daunting. “I hate when I have to keep a secret,” he admitted in the interview. The good news for Cox is that with the production of this year’s Daredevil: Born Again series, there were no such constraints, which he felt was “probably for the best.”

Cox expressed surprise at how events unfolded, saying, “Sometimes it feels as though things happen out of nowhere.” He and co-star Vincent D’Onofrio, who reprises his role as Kingpin, were eager to return to work in Hell’s Kitchen where a fresh set of villains awaits. This gripping series premiered on Disney Plus earlier in March.

Cox’s integration into the Spider-Man universe isn’t new; earlier this year, he lent his voice to Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man, an animated series on Disney Plus, as The Man Without Fear. Looking forward, it’s uncertain which project he will tackle next. Fortunately, with Marvel Phase 5 nearing, Cox can publicly discuss the already confirmed second season of Daredevil: Born Again.
