Jason Isaacs, currently basking in the limelight for his lead role in The White Lotus season 3, still remains Lucius Malfoy in the hearts of many fans from the iconic Harry Potter film series. With HBO planning a reboot, curiosity abounds about who will step into Draco’s sinister father’s shoes. Isaacs has given a surprise suggestion.

In a recent conversation with Variety, Isaacs expressed, “Meryl Streep. She can do anything, that woman. There’s literally no limit to what she can do,” he remarked, leaving many astonished with his choice.

Renowned as a three-time Oscar winner, Streep has proven her versatility repeatedly. Imagine her tackling a gender-flipped Lucius Malfoy! She’s portrayed formidable and wicked characters, from Miranda Priestly in Devil Wears Prada to the Witch in Into the Woods and Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady.

As of now, the reboot only has two confirmed actors: Jon Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore and Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape. The series is ambitiously set to span seven seasons, each aligning with the bestselling fantasy saga’s seven books.

Reflecting on the original films, Isaacs remarked how the production experience wasn’t always thrilling, noting, “they weren’t that much fun to make,” due to the monotony of producing major special effects films. However, he cherishes the aftermath, acknowledging, “I see and meet people for whom their lives were changed by it,” and believes when they claim the series saved their lives.
