It’s hard to believe, but Clive, the protagonist from Final Fantasy 16 with a seemingly ordinary name, has become the most popular guest character in Tekken 8. Astonishingly, he’s surpassed even The Walking Dead’s Negan, who made waves as a guest in Tekken 7.
The Tekken series is known for its iconic characters, from the likes of Jin and Mishima to the formidable tiger-masked wrestler King, and gun-wielding Nina Williams. Although this roster already brims with eclectic personalities, adding a fresh face here and there spices things up.
Fans have long pleaded with Katsuhiro Harada to incorporate Final Fantasy 7’s Tifa into Tekken. Her brawling prowess seems tailor-made for the game. Yet, the developers opted for Clive, a decision initially met with skepticism. However, one redditor’s deep dive into player stats reveals that since his inclusion on December 16, 2024, Clive Rosfield has captured the players’ hearts.
According to the redditor’s analysis, Clive ranks as the most utilized guest character in competitive play. “First up, the star of this post, Clive Rosfield,” they noted, highlighting his immense popularity. “He’s literally the most popular guest character ever, significantly more beloved than the second-most, Negan. And he’s light-years ahead of Noctis.” Despite the clamoring for Tifa, players clearly gravitate towards Clive, often citing his ease of use and powerful move set, making him a staple just behind King in the rankings.
Meanwhile, Jin has overcome Druganov, a character whose harsh and malevolent attacks have often been a topic of discussion. Druganov’s viciousness felt unmatched, embodying a unique menace in the game’s dynamics.
For those scaling the ranks in Tekken, there are still plenty of other top-tier fighting games to explore—each offering their own thrilling experiences.
