The anticipation surrounding Avengers: Doomsday heightened with Marvel’s announcement of an impressive cast list. The big news includes the exciting return of Namor alongside X-Men legends Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart. Yet, one noticeable absence left fans buzzing: Daredevil.

Charlie Cox was missing during the MCU lineup reveal, but loyal fans haven’t dismissed hopes for a Matt Murdock cameo. On Reddit, some speculate a potential appearance in another film, such as Avengers: Secret Wars.

One fan noted, “It’s possible he might play a small, crucial role on the ground level, mirroring Black Widow or Hawkeye in previous Avengers films,” while another added, “Expect a nod to his animated cameo style in X-Men ’97.” A passionate voice pointed out, “Though Cox isn’t as widely recognized as other stars, his appearance would certainly evoke loud reactions from audiences.”

Daredevil has previously made surprise entrances in the MCU, including a memorable turn as a “really good lawyer” in Spider-Man: No Way Home and as a love interest in She-Hulk. He also lent an animated hand to the fight in X-Men ’97.

Despite having his own Disney Plus series, more substantial screen time was anticipated by many. A fan lamented on Reddit, “Without a feature film, it would be a shame before Charlie steps away from the role.” Some fans advocate for his inclusion in a film with less crowded casting, perhaps alongside another Defender. “Secret Wars could feature Daredevil with The Punisher mowing down aliens, staying true to their characters,” a fan mused.

Charlie Cox has expressed his desires to join the Avengers, revealing to British GQ, “It feels more possible now than ever. It would be fantastic to be part of an Avengers movie or appear in another Spider-Man film. I’ve grown fond of the character, and I think it’s a rightful upgrade for him.”

Though Marvel hinted that casting might not be finalized, fans remain hopeful. In the meantime, check out our Daredevil: Born Again season 1 review and our Daredevil: Born Again release schedule.
