Your journey in Atomfall starts with a mystery as soon as you awaken in the picturesque Lake District. Here, you’ll encounter a junction box requiring the elusive Signal Redirector within the very bunker where you regain consciousness. These boxes are scattered throughout the quarantine zone, each needing a Signal Redirector for access.
There are two avenues to acquire a Signal Redirector, but be warned: one path demands more commitment, taking you through an investigation with permanent outcomes. If securing the Signal Redirector swiftly is your aim, here’s the most efficient approach.
Inside the Protocol Field Station in Skethermoor, within Windfall’s Crate, lies one Signal Redirector. To access it, however, you’ll first need the Windfall Key. Although finding clues like The Little Tea Room and The Windfall Shipment can help, they’re not essential. Head to the Protocol Field Station as per the instructions in the note.
You can immediately put the Redirector to the test at the Protocol Field Bunker, which houses two switches for operation. If its functionality puzzles you, we have further insight at the bottom of this guide. Alternatively, you can avoid the risk of infiltrating Protocol bunkers and confrontations by opting to pursue the investigation. Though this also unfolds largely in Skethermoor.
After making your choice, consider your next steps. To assist Dr. Garrow, utilize the Signal Redirector on the switch in a room gained by climbing to a ledge. This action opens the Control Room, allowing you to release all prisoners. Be prepared—the Protocol guards will turn hostile, complicating your escape. Alternatively, speaking with her again then aligning with Captain Sims remains an option.
The Signal Redirector, reminiscent of a Metal Detector when near a cache, alerts you when a signal box is nearby. Equip it using Triangle/Y, aim with L2/LT, and when in range, press R2/RT to adjust the signal. Two-output boxes toggle between them; others with three need careful selection. Trace the yellow cables from the box to determine their functions.
